BenQ GV1 Portable Wireless Mini Projector frees you from setup hassles and cumbersome cables to just start enjoying videos, social media, music and games. It has a convenient tilting hinge that lets a high-mounted lens produce 100 images anywhere, and the auto keystone feature keeps the picture perfectly squared. The projector weighs only 708g and is perfectly portable. It can be carried anywhere anytime. It features wire-free connectivity with dual-band 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi and a direct hotspot which makes it very convenient. It has a USB -C that can be used to stream media and charge your mobile device or even play media files from a flash drive. This makes it very handy. It can be used as a Bluetooth speaker also as it has a robust 5-watt chambered audio facility. It uses DLP 3430 Projection System with a resolution of 480p (854 x 480 pixels). Its brightness is 200 ANSI Lumens, Contrast Ratio (FOFO) is 100,000:1 and the display has 16.7 Million Colors. Native Aspect Ratio is 16:9. Setting up the GV1 is actually quite easy – just power it on, set up the WiFi, and you’ll almost instantly be able to stream to it via Apple AirPlay. If you’re on Android, you’ll be able to use Google Cast to do the same, and there’s no fiddling about on the projector to switch between either streaming method, which is a relief.
As mentioned before, you can also directly plug a device into the GV1 using the supplied USB-C cable. We connected a Huawei P20 Pro smartphone to it and it instantly mirrored the phone’s screen.
Things go downhill when you’re trying to stream wirelessly, specifically content from Netflix or iTunes on iOS – as neither of their iOS apps were compatible with the GV1. YouTube works perfectly fine, but who’s connecting a projector just to watch YouTube clips? We tried connecting a USB-C to Lightning cable in the hopes that it would fix our iOS problems, but our connected iPhone just started charging via the GV1, rather than outputting a display.
